Arizona State Sued For Use Of Amazon Kindle
Advocates for the blind are suing Arizona State University claiming that ASU’s policy of offering textbooks to students via Amazon’s latest addition to its kindle reader family – the Kindle DX -is discrimination against visually impaired students. The contention is that the DX’s lack of audio menus shuts blind students out of this new technology and puts them at a competitive disadvantage compared to other students. An ASU student is listed as the plaintiff jointly with the National Federation of The Blind and the American Council of the Blind. The Kindle does seem to be attracting a fair deal of legal attention – Amazon are also being sued by the Discovery channel who are claiming patent infringement.
