A lot of people who want to know the advantages of certain kinds of windows often ask the question: So how does vinyl vs wood windows compare as far as energy efficiency goes.
Vinyl windows are very energy efficient but the draw back is that they cannot often be painted, although you can get them tinted. Also some vinyl windows come with fake trim that makes it look like wood. But they will never have the same feel like wood windows. I see this as a disadvantage.
The advantage of vinyl is that they are virtually no maintenance. Wood windows are high manintenance but they do look great. Wood should not used in places like the Northwest where it rains a lot. Vinyl is best suited for these environments.
