Traveling with music

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I was recently in LA and looking for something to do. It was the weekend after all and I didn’t come here to hang out in the hotel I met some really cool people on the flight over here and it happens that they were all staying at the same hotel. I ended up seeing them n the lobby at check out and we traded phone numbers in case they were looking for something to do later that week. On the plane we got into this discussion about music. We went over all the genres and what we thought the best was. I told them the best female group in my opinion it was TLC from the 90′s.

Guitar Players are the Coolest Musicians

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

There has never been any doubt in my mind that the guitar is my favorite instrument and guitar players are the coolest musicians.  My mother listened to Spanish guitar when I was young, and that got me interested.  Later I fell in love with a half dozen rock stars, naturally.  Eventually I learned to love jazz and the blues so much I decided to try to play them myself.  One day I bought a guitar and got my first blues guitar lesson.  It took a lot of practice and determination, but finally I was able to play reasonably well.  It is exactly as cool as I thought it would be.

The Best Costume

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Last Halloween, my friend was the rave of the party because she was Cat Woman with a twist.  The twist was she was wearing yellow cat eye contact lenses.  Everyone loved her awesome costume.  She won the costume contest.  I was so jealous because my costume was not nearly as cool as hers.  I wish I would have thought of buying colored contacts for my alien costume.  The best part for her is, if she is ever feeling cat-like, she can just pop in her colored contacts.  She can be walking in the park and people will not know if they are looking at a human or something else.

A Lesson In Guitar Chords: Learning To Play Guitar Chords

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Every song is comprised of notes. Chords are a set of notes played in series. Chords that almost touch the same fret are the easy to learn guitar chords. Beginners should practice the songs with the least amount of chords first. To play a chord properly you need to use just the right amount of finger pressure on the strings. Leveling the wrist is crucial to avoid pain and cramping in the playing hand.  Through daily practice, one should memorize the hand movement of all chords. In order to play most guitar songs, it is necessary to know certain chords. Beginner courses typically start you out with the easiest guitar chords to learn.

Andrew Sinclairs fantastic Figurative Sculptors

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Andrew Sinclair’s sculptures can be seen in country homes, on city desks, ocean liners and in municipal spaces. Each of these pieces whether they be a portrait sculpture of Winston Churchill, a figurative sculpture of Liberty or a surrealist sculpture of Moodius Centuarus have such amazing life to them that Andrew Sinclair must be praised for his skill as Figurative Sculptor, Surrealist sculptor and Portrait Sculptor.

His team of moulders and casters makes sure that every brief that comes into Ridgeway Studio is expertly brought into life using the vast bank of their gathered knowledge to make sure the sculpture goes according to plan. Andrew Sinclair’s team also work with other sculptors producing their works to the highest of standards with a total service for resin bronze, marble resin, metal effect and stone effect casts.

There are an amazing number of patinations that can be applied to the sculptures, and the team have massive amounts of experience applying just the right finish to every particular piece. Many sculptors also find it beneficial using Ridgeway Studio for the extra services of armature supply and enlargement work. Andrew Sinclair produces some fantastic works in the past, I look forward to seeing what brilliant pieces he brings to life in the months ahead.

Purchasing Beeswax for Candles

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Beeswax can be purchased in two forms, bars and sheets.  Bars come in several sizes for use in making small or larger projects.  They can also be purchased in bulk.  Sheets can be purchased in bulk as well.  Sheets seem to be easier to mold when using them to make beeswax candles.  These are fun to make and you do all of the molding by hand.  You can make tapers, votives or really any kind of candle you wish.  Doing a search on the Internet for beeswax will bring up several vendors.  You can also purchase beeswax from your local hobby store and maybe even the purest form can be purchased from your local bee farm.

New Music In My Collection

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I’ve been listening to some really interesting things lately. All my life I’ve been kind of put off by Opera. It just seems to be a very unusual art form. I mean, people don’t generally go down the street singing at the top of their lungs to each other. Anyway, I decided that it was time for me to really explore it and try to get over my mental block. Some of the new music still evades me, but I’m really enjoying the Italian Bel Canto stuff.

Just goes to show you that it’s never too late to learn about something. Good to keep an open mind.

My Favorite Place for a Wedding

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

I have been coordinating weddings for a long time. It is something that I love to do, and it makes me feel better that I get paid to do it. I have been looking into some new options for my clients lately. Maybe I am just getting bored, but I really feel like I just want to get some new places for people to get married. So, we are looking into the Destin Beach Wedding. I know it will be the perfect place for anyone who is thinking of having an outside wedding. It will be perfect to have something right on the water.

Wedding Western culture

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Weddings performed during and immediately following the medieval era were often more than just a union between two people. They could be a union between two families, two businesses or even two countries. Many weddings were more a matter of politics than love, particularly among the nobility and the higher social classes. Brides were therefore expected to dress in a manner that cast their families in the most favorable light, for they were not representing only themselves during the ceremony. Brides of an elevated social standing often wore rich colors and expensive fabrics. It was common to see such brides wearing bold colors and layers of furs, velvet and silk. Brides of a lower social standing often copied the elegant styles of wealthier brides as best they could.
